The Walls I Built

By: Marcus J. King

After all I dealt with you,

you still try my patience.

Trying to tell me: “I am nothing and never will amount to nothing”

How can someone with such a hateful soul tell me I can’t do anything?

I am and will be AWESOME!

Regardless of how you see or feel about me,

I am not YOU at the end of the day.

My life still goes on with or without you.

I break down my walls to open myself up to those who care,

. . . who will love me for me and not my money.

I leave my walls high up to the sky,

so that you can’t get over it, around, it, or through it

Even after you called me nothing.
